I own a desktop, but I would love to buy a laptop so I can do freelance work outside of my house.
My desktop is in the living room of my house and it is not the most inspiring place for Web Design. It helps me concentrate, but I generally lack creativity in my living room.
Oh which one did you buy? I got this thing customized from HP...cost me about $1000. had this 512m dedicated card and around 360 gig hdd... had enough power to boost my games.
Well I have work in both. I actually prefer pc over laptop because working in pc is lot better than laptop. We can work very fast there. But if I have some high profits in my ongoing business then I would like to have one laptop also with the computer.
I have both and like to use both. When I go to outside, I use laptop. It really helps in outside and fashionable too. But i feel more flexibility to work in PC. In home, I do not use laptop.
Laptops offer portability and mobility. The amount of power we are able to pack into a mobile form is ever increasing. Laptops still tend to lag a bit in the GPU area.
Desktops offer more power and expandability that laptops can't match. With desktops you have the ability to have multi-socket platforms for server use. Desktop can also have parts easily upgraded and swapped.
The answer is always going to be based on the situation that the user is in. Some people just don't care about having or need a truly mobile solution so for them a desktop is where it's at.
Pc is mor professional than laptop. I personaly use Pc for the design works but for simple things like writing something or navigate on internet I recomend laptop because you can carry it everywhere.
LAPTOP! LAPTOP! LAPTOP! I can always add workstation functionality (additional & larger monitor for design work, standard keyboard, etc.) when I need to. Plus it takes up less space than a PC. Also, I love working in different places around town depending on my mood - the library, my church, coffee shops, etc.
Neither Mac all the way. I prefer using mac because of its great GUI, the great selection of applications especially for designers and webmaster and the fact it is Windows :)
In fight of Laptop or Desktop, I would rather go with Desktop (PC). I am an avid user of internet and work almost 8-10 hours online and for that I need continuous supply of power which Laptop fails to provide. I consider Desktop is certainly better in a long run. Laptop limits me for 1-2 hours of use.
